South Lincs Foundry based in Spalding are looking for an apprentice pattern maker to join our existing team, manufacturing and modifying patterns for a wide and varied customer/application base.
Pattern makers are skilled craftsmen who make patterns in a wide range of materials ranging from wood, fibreglass and resins. The ideal candidate will be working under the instruction of Matt Smith, our pattern shop foreman. You will be taught how to set out a basic pattern, working from engineering drawings, while taking into account the contraction rate and machining allowances to suit specific metals. From here you will build up to basic pattern making, using wood working machinery and techniques, of which full training will be given.
Any casting can only ever be as good as the pattern from which it is made!
